Property developer Grand Canal Land recently announced its plans to launch a 125-storey office and hotel building of 615m that would make it the tallest skyscraper in Southeast Asia.

Although name has not been confirmed yet, the THB18 billion project “Rama IX Super Tower” is expected to reach completion in 2019. It is set to be built on Rama 9 Road nearby Phram 9 MRT and the intersection with Ratchadapisek Road.

Yotin Boondicharern, Chairman of G Land, said: “I am confident that the Thai economy is roaring ahead. G Land has launched The Super Tower project in response to the government policy to develop Thailand further and establish the country as the economic leader in the region.”

The mixed-use project building will feature 90,000sqm of office space as well as a 6-star luxury hotel of 260 rooms. Also, an observation room for tourists and a top floor garden will be provided.

The Super Tower is part of a bigger urban project called ‘The Grand Rama 9’ and which gathers several properties such as newly built Belle Grand Rama 9, an office building G Land Tower, shopping malls and luxury hotel Mercure. Rama 9 is therefore becoming a huge business center as well, thus further expanding the already-existing Bangkok CBD.

Yotin added: “Boasting the huge potential to attract both domestic and foreign investors, The Super Tower will be the pride of all Thais. This impressive skyscraper will become not just an economic hub of the ASEAN Community but also a definitely world-class attraction.”

The building will be built to the platinum-level certification of the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED).
