What you can expect if living in Phrom Phong
Although probably not considered an “authentic local Thai area” to reside in due to its heavenly western and expat influenced themed eateries, bars and clubs dotted about; due to its location and amenities it is an extremely popular place to live. A large Japanese and Korean community is evident here with the dozens of stores and restaurants serving sushi, sake, katsu don, kimchi and ramen. However, there are plenty of western style restaurants, bars and pubs such as the Robin Hood, Dubliner and The Royal Oak for those expats who miss the “traditional pub feel” of pubs back home which can be hard to find or replicate in many parts of Southeast Asia. Directly from exit 2 of Phrom Phong BTS Station you can gain access to one of Bangkok’s most famous, and high-end luxurious shopping malls – Emporium. You will find all manner of luxurious garments and goods here but you will need some cash to splash if you want to buy anything as it obviously does not come cheap! You will, however, also find lots of other delights in this super mall.
