Located at Silom Road, in the heart of one of Bangkok’s most loved tourist and business districts, the area around Sala Daeng attracts a large number of visitors and residents alike.
Essentially, Sala Daeng is nothing but a small street that connects Silom with Sathorn, however the opening of the BTS Sky Train in 1999 has made the name synonymous with the area ever since.
In addition to the BTS station, Sala Daeng also links up with Silom MRT, and at the end of Silom, the Sirat Expressway and Chayo Phraya River offer even more access to the rest of Bangkok.
Silom and Sala Daeng has long been a major center of the city, both for business and tourism. For that reason there aren’t as many residential properties here as you might find in other parts Bangkok, but there’s still an abundance of fantastic places for those wishing to stay in the area.
On first impressions, it appears that most properties in Sala Daeng are geared toward commercial side of real estate, but on closer inspection, you’ll still find several great residences scattered about.
As a general room of thumb properties located south of Sala Daeng toward Sathorn are aimed towards wealthy residents and business travellers, whilst those toward Surawong are more suited to tourists, and middle class residents who wish to be in the heart of the hustle and bustle. But as with most places in Bangkok, the streets are so diverse that rules don’t always apply.
Property in Sala Daeng generally caters toward the higher end of the market, with most condos offering luxury residences with first class service. However there are also a number of lavish houses located down the smaller soi’s just off Silom, Sathorn and Surawong.
Together with these high-end accommodations, there are several, more affordable housing options such as mid-range apartments and in expensive townhouses.
Those living in the area can enjoy all the conveniences the city center has to offer, with lots of leisure and entertainment attractions just a short walk away. Lumphini Park is just around the corner and Silom is home to a one of city’s major tourist hotspots with night markets, bars, restaurants, clubs and the infamous Patpong red-light district.
